In Texas, theft includes the crimes of larceny, robbery, and burglary.

"Larceny" means taking something with the intent to steal it. Grand larceny refers to taking things with a substantial value and is a felony. Petty larceny refers to things of lesser value and is a misdemeanor. Grand theft and petty theft follow the same definition.

"Burglary" is the crime of breaking into and entering a house or other building intending to commit a crime.

"Robbery" is violently stealing something from a person.
